Vitamin D is often called the sunshine vitamin because your body can produce it when your skin is exposed to sunlight. However, factors such as limited time outdoors, the season, age, where you live, and darker skin tones can affect how much vitamin D your body makes.

Health First Vitamin D3 Extra Strength provides 2,500 IU per gelcap. Along with sufficient calcium, a healthy diet and regular exercise, vitamin D may also help reduce the risk of developing osteoporosis.

Directions

Adults (18 years and older) - Take 1 gelcap daily. To be taken with an adequate intake of calcium.

Duration

Consult a health care practitioner for use beyond 6 months.

Cautions

Contra-Indications: Do not use this product if you have hypercalcemia and/or hypercalciuria.

Cautions and Warnings: Ask a health care practitioner before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Ask a health care practitioner before use if you are taking any medications including antacids, anticonvulsants, digoxin, cholestyramine, colestipol, mineral oil, steroids, statins or thiazide diuretics. Ask a health care practitioner before use if you are taking other supplements or products containing vitamin D or vitamin D analogues. Ask a health care practitioner before use if you have kidney disorders. Ask a health care practitioner before use to determine if you would benefit from additional vitamin D as 15-20 mcg (600-800 IU) of vitamin D per day is an adequate quantity for most individuals.

Known Adverse Reactions: Stop use and ask a health care practitioner if the following early symptoms of hypercalcemia occur: weakness, fatigue, drowsiness, headache, lack of appetite, dry mouth, metallic taste, nausea, vomiting, vertigo, ringing in the ears, lack of coordination and muscle weakness or if you develop any other symptoms.
